Campo De Flori Lavender
Our 1500 lavender bushes at the Campo de Flori Farm are a mix of four different species.
- Lavendula angustifolia – Imperial Gem
- Lavendula angustifolia – Cedar Blue
- Lavendula X-intermedia – Grosso
- Lavendula X- intermedia – Riverina Thomas
Two varieties, Lavendula angustifolia, (Imperial Gem and Cedar Blue) are culinary lavenders. They are the first to bloom and are harvested first to be dried, processed and packaged for the gourmet food market. Our culinary lavender (Imperial Gem) received a GOLD medal and Reserve Champion at the Royal Tasmanian Fine Food Awards. Some of the culinary lavender is used in the creation of our beautiful lavender tea. The tea is a Huon Valley collaboration with Dry Ideas Tea grown here in the Huon Valley. This tea recently won a Silver Award at the Royal Tasmanian Fine Food Awards.
The remaining two varieties, Lavendula X-intermedia (Grosso and Riverina Thomas) are Aroma Therapy Lavenders. This lavender is hand harvested in the summer and is hung to dry in our sheds. Once dried it is stored in dark airtight bins and only brought out to make products to order throughout the year. This insures the fragrant lavender buds used in our products are at their highest quality. We create a variety of aroma therapy products at the farm that consist of, wheat bags, lavender sleep pillows, linen lavender sachets, lavender bath salts, lavender paper sachets, lavender soy candles, soaps and bath bombs. The
Riverina Thomas lavender is made into Lavender Essential Oils and Hydrosols. Handpicked and Stright into the still to be distilled into beautiful oil.
