Lisa in her Campo de Flori Pottery Studio

Lisa has been potting around for over 40 years and creates bespoke hand decorated pieces, tableware for restaurants and her favorited RAKU. You can find Lisa’s ceramics at some of Tasmania’s fine galleries or our online shop.

Author Posie Grame-Evens opened a recent exhibition Lisa was in and had this to say about Lisa’s work.

I think it was inevitable that Lisa discovered Tasmania, or it discovered her. Her life and her work collide, it seems to me, in an outpouring of creativity that has taken remarkable root in the Huon. She’s been known to describe herself as a lunatic farmer but her passion for ceramics, saffron, lavender, olive oil and sustainability shine through all that she does. Her work as a potter is delightful and so clearly influenced by all she sees on her farm, but it’s also the energy she brings to all that she does which is, I believe, remarkable. The Dalai Lama was asked, once, what the meaning of life might be. He thought about that and said, eventually, “to be useful.” Lisa embodies usefulness however, she translates that usefulness into beauty, and charm. We’re very lucky to have her here.

Lisa in her Happy Place…..

LISA BRITZMAN POTTERY

FOR LISA FROM KRISTIN

She sits at the wheel
Arms on her knees
Thoughts in her head

The birth of a spirit
The clay comes to life
At the touch of a hand
With the caress from the heart

The potter mind becomes
One with her piece
The potter builds peace of Mind
